Disgraced mayor teams up with disgraced athlete

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is running for re-election and yesterday introduced disgraced Olympic sprinter Ben Johnson as part of his campaign team.

Controversy has dogged Ford for the past year after he admitted to having smoked crack cocaine “in a drunken stupor.”

Johnson won a gold medal at the Olympics in 1988 but it was taken from him after he tested positive for doping.

Ford said he was not concerned that Johnson’s past might remind voters of his own issues with drugs. “I support Ben 100 per cent. We’ve all made mistakes in life,” said the mayor.
