Citizens of the eastern city of Moncton breathed a collective sigh of relief after police arrested a man suspected of shooting five police officers, three of whom died. 24-year-old Justin Bourque was apparently unarmed at the time of his arrest.

A portion of Moncton had been in lock-down for almost 30 hours as nearly 300 police officers searched for the shooter. Citizens were asked to remain inside and lock their doors.
Mourning begins
People will now move on to mourning those who died. They were members of Canada’s national police force, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. They were 32-year-old Constable David Ross, 45-year-old Constable Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, and 40-year-old Constable Douglas James Larche.
