Following some initial doubt, a movie by Monty Python cast member Terry Gilliam will be shown in Canadian cinemas.
Mr. Gilliam had posted on Facebook that he had been led to understand that “Zero Theorem” was not going to be released in cinemas in Canada, only on DVD and Video on Demand.
Hours later, the distribution company handling the release said it would be, in fact, the film be coming to Canada in the next few weeks. Mongrel Media said the decision was based “tremendous interest” in the film.
The movie is about a reclusive computer genius, played by Cristoph Waltz, working on a project aimed at discovering the meaning of life, but he is repeatedly distracted by people he doesn’t trust.
Perhaps best known for his membership in the Monty Python comedy troop, Mr. Gilliam has directed a number of films including “Brazil,” “The Fisher King,” “Fear” and “Twelve Monkies.”
Monty Python performed on Sunday in London. The cast said it was their final performance ever. The show was televised in cinemas in countries around the world, including Canada.
Mr. Gilliam was the only American in Monty Python and was responsible for the most the animation in the act.
