The head of Canada’s national police force, the RCMP, made public the cellphone video recorded by Michael Zehaf-Bibeau before he shot and killed a soldier at the National War Memorial, and then stormed onto Parliament Hill and was shot by security police on October 22, 2014.
RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson had been asked to make the video public by the House of Commons Public Safety Committee.
On Friday, during a one hour session in which he was questioned by government and opposition MPs, Paulson released a text transcript and the video. Footage in the video was removed: 13 seconds from the beginning and five seconds from the end for “operational reasons” in the continuing investigation into the incident.
RCI’s Wojtek Gwiazda has a report.
