Disabled Canadian tall ship towed to U.S. port

After several malfunctions and a rescue of the crew, a Canadian tall ship has been towed to a port near Portsmouth, New Hampshire in the United States.

The schooner replica, Liana’s Ransom, ran into trouble when its engine failed, its generator failed, the mainsail became tangled and the mast broke.  The U.S. Coast Guard came to the rescue early Monday in rough seas and heavy winds. Nine crew members had to jump across the water to life boats.

One man suffered a head injury and was flown to a \ hospital in Boston by helicopter. He was later released.

The tall ship’s captain is heading off to inspect the damage.
