Orchid Ensemble- mixing east and west in music

This week we travel to Canada’s west coast to two members of a unique trio.  They call themselves the  Orchid Ensemble. Their music is heavily inspired by Asia, but with touches of western influence blended in.

All of them conservatory trained in their respective instruments, they perform contemporary compositions created by a number of composers.  In a moment I join him and founder Lan Tung by phone, but in the encore presentation of the conversation, we start first a brief taste of a piece from the trio’s second album entitles “Life, Death, Tears, Dream”. We start and will end with the track called “Dancing Moon”
