This is a Lake Huron sunset, taken by Bobby Mikul. Perhaps it sheds a little light on why the Windsor woman was racing to the cottage!

Sunset at a price

Sunset was the inspiration for a bad decision last Monday morning. A Windsor, Ontario woman’s hurried trip to the cottage ended when police caught her driving at nearly twice the posted speed limit.

The Ontario Provincial Police say an officer recorded a Chevrolet Cruze going 150 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on the Bluewater Veterans Highway, northwest of London, Ontario.

In a news release police said that when the vehicle was pulled over, the driver explained  “she was speeding in an attempt to make it to the cottage prior to sunset.”

The 25-year-old driver has been charged with racing a motor vehicle. Her licence is suspended for the week and her car is impounded for the same length of time.

The charge has not been proven in court.
