Online body painter attracts thousands of hits

Twice a week Canadian Kay Pike spends up to 15 hours painting her body to represent a different character and live streams it on the internet, reports Canadian Press(CP). The 28-year-old is a fan of cosplay, the art of dressing up as characters from anime, comic books, video games or movies.

163,000 followers in three months

Pike told CP she has been painting her whole life, and the idea of painting her body instead of wearing a costume came to her as she was sitting as a body paint model for someone else. She posted her first video on Reddit, and Twitch.tv became interested.

She started posting with Twitch in December and already has 163,000 followers on Instagram, reports CP. She makes a little money from advertising, and more from viewer donations, crowdfunding, her own fashion line and appearances.

‘Sad to wash it off’

Pike told CP it would be boring and lonely to paint herself without an audience. “While you’re painting it, it’s a lot more satisfying …

because you have the joy of creation. “At the end, it’s a little sad to wash it off.”
