Trudeau will also meet the same day with a delegation of young people from First Nations across northern Ontario, including Attawapiskat.

In April, Chief Shisheesh declared a state of emergency, saying the remote James Bay Cree community had been overwhelmed by over 100 suicide attempts, with one person dying.

The youngest was 11, the oldest was 71.

On Thursday, Health Minister Jane Philpott was in Attawapiskat to assess how the community with about 2,000 residents was doing since it sent additional health workers to the community in April.

Chief Shisheesh has been seeking a meeting with the prime minister since the crisis exploded this spring.
