Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe never forgot his prairie roots.

The man many consider the greatest hockey player of all time, Gordie Howe, was buried in Detroit this past Wednesday.

Howe, who played 33 professional seasons, died June 10th at the age of 88. Not only was Howe a great player–good enough to be called “Mr. Hockey,” but he set a standard on how players–especially great players–should act.

Terry Haig talked to noted sports commentator and author Bruce Dowbiggin about that and Howe’s many other legacies.

The Canadian government is considering a law that would allow it to collect information on people who are leaving the country. Canada is the only member of the five-nation security group (which includes the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand) that does not already record this kind of information about its own citizens.

To find out exactly Canada is planning and why, Lynn Desjardins spoke with Wesley Wark, an intelligence and security expert and visiting professor at the University of Ottawa.
