It’s an interesting facet of the new technological age. Police in Newfoundland and Labrador have had their twitter account overrun by messaged destined for the Republican convention and Donald Trump.
You see, the official name of the police in Canada’s Atlantic province it, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, or on twitter “@RNC”.

It started as far back as two years ago but for the past many months as things began to heat up towards the Republican national convention and Donald Trump’s rise to become the nominee for the presidency of the U.S,, the police in Newfoundland have been overrun with tweets “@RNC” as people think they are tweeting the Republican National Convention.
The RNC police have been busy tweeting back “we are a Canadian Police Service in Newfoundland & Labrador with no U.S. Political affiliations”.
Actually the Republican party and the committee do not operate their twitter account as @RNC, but rather @GOP.
Radio Canada International also has a slightly similar technological situation. We call ourselves RCI, but the website is RCINET,
Anyone trying to find us via an internet search using “RCI” is likely to find a vacation timeshare operation, or a waste disposal company.
