Christine Sinclair and Deanne Rose scored in this afternoon’s 2-1 victory over host Brazil at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio. This is the Canadian women’s soccer team back-to-back Olympic bronze medals.

“I was not going to leave this tournament without a medal around my neck,”

“I was not going to leave this tournament without a medal around my neck,” said a tearful Sinclair following the match.

Beatriz scored the single goal for Brazil. The home-team had yielded just one goal in their previous five matches in the Olympic tournament.

Four years ago Canada defeated France 1-0 to win bronze. The Brazilian women won silver in 2004 and 2008, finishing sixth at the 2012 Games. They placed fourth in 1996 and 2000.
