Child star charms Toronto Film Festival

The popular nine-year-old move star Jacob Tremblay returned to the Toronto Film Festival for the premier of his newest film “Burn Your Maps.” Vancouver-born Tremblay plays a young Chicago boy who thinks he is a Mongolian goat herder.

The fantasy takes hold after the family suffers a tragedy that profoundly affects each member.

‘Goats are really cute’

There was no money to shoot the film in Mongolia but it turns out the foothills of the Canadian Rockies served just as well. Tremblay ran through meadows with goats and rode a horse during the shoot.

“Goats are really cute, especially the baby ones. But they do smell a little bit,” Tremblay quipped to the amusement of journalists and festival staff.

“I also had to learn to ride a horse without a saddle. If you do that it kind of hurts, if you know what I’m saying.”

Co-stars had plenty of praise for the young star who made his debut in the thriller “Room” last year.
