Canadian Broadway actor Nick Cordero honoured in memorial tribute

The Canadian Broadway actor Nick Cordero who died earlier this summer was honoured over the weekend in a memorial tribute that celebrated his life and career.

The tribute, which was streamed online on Broadway On Demand on Sunday, featured Cordero’s family and friends coming together to celebrate his life, photographs, videos, memories and commentary from people he grew up with, worked with and shared his talent with.

Cordero, a Tony nominated actor, died at the age of 41 due to severe medical complications after he had contracted COVID-19.

“You’ve been gone two months today. There isn’t a day I haven’t missed you, cried for you and wished I could go back in time,” Cordero’s wife, Amanda Kloots, wrote on an Instagram post on Saturday asking people to watch the special tribute.

“There has been so much love going into making this memorial as special as Nick was. Thank you to any and all who gave their time and talent so graciously,” she added.

Cordero grew up in Hamilton and attended Ryerson University for acting before moving to New York in 2007 to pursue his career. He eventually got his big break in 2014 where he played a character named Cheech in a musical adaptation of Bullets over Broadway.
