A transgender shopper says a bridal shop in the western city of Saskatoon refused to let her try on dresses. Rohit Singh was shopping for a wedding dress at Jenny’s Bridal Boutique and asked to try one on.
The owner refused. She thought Singh was a man and she felt other shoppers would be uncomfortable with Singh trying on dresses.
“Discrimination,” Sign said of the experience. She plans to file a complaint with the Human Rights Commission in her province of Saskatchewan.
Singh says she has started the process for a sex change.
Transgender usually means someone who identifies with a gender (i.e., female or male) that is different from their biological classification at birth. It does not imply any particular sexual orientation.
