On this edition of Politics Today RCI’s Wojtek Gwiazda focuses on the surprise early adjournment in the House of Commons before the summer break, and some of the party statements before MPs left this past week.

Wojtek talks about the decision of longtime politician Liberal MP Bob Rae to leave politics and devote himself to law and mediation on First Nation Indigenous issues. He also talks about an attack campaign against Liberal leader Justin Trudeau orchestrated from the Prime Minister’s Office, a new law that makes it a crime to wear a mask or conceal your identity during a riot or unlawful assembly and a seeming change by Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird of his description of the Iranian election.

As well, Wojtek talks about the St Jean Baptiste holiday weekend in the predominantly French-speaking province of Quebec, and next weekend’s Canada Day celebrations across the country.
