It’s kind of like speed-dating. International writers, editors, and broadcasters from around the world have been invited to scenic Prince Edward Island this week.
They’re being wooed to write and broadcast stories about PEI, and Canada, and various delegates from tourism destinations across the country have to make their pitch in one-on –one meetings in 12 minute sessions.
Its all part of Go-Media Marketplace, an annual event, which this year is being held in Charlottetown. In addition to the two-days of “speed” pitching of story ideas to the international visitors, there are also day trips to areas around PEI.

Gregory Gerault, a travel writer and photographer from Paris was initially concerned that it would feel rushed, which Europeans don’t appreciate, “We’re not Americans”, he told a local newspaper reporter.
He added that the meetings have been going well and that he has made a number of usefull contacts for projects he has been thinking about across Canada.
PEI, as host, is picking up the tab for all 125 international journalists at the week long event. Provincial tourism officials hope they’ll benefit from increased international coverage.
In Mr Gerault’s case, it’s already worked as he now plans to return next year for a feature on PEI’s fishery.
