Boston bomb victim dances again

For the first time since the Boston Marathon bomb blew off the bottom part of her leg, Adrianne Haslet-Davis danced on stage with the help of a prosthetic. She appeared at the TED (Technology, entertainment, design) conference in Vancouver after a speech by Dr. Hugh Herr about his work developing prosthetics that use biomechanics together with microprocessors.

Haslet-Davis had been a dance instruction in Boston. She and her husband were watching the Boston marathon last year and both were injured in the blast. Soon after, she vowed she would dance again.

She met Herr soon after. He himself had had both legs amputated because of severe frostbite he got while rock climbing in 1982.That inspired him to develop better prostheses. He has returned to rock climbing.

The dance made Haslet-Davis tear-up and provoked a standing ovation from the audience.
