Canadians among the top users of the Internet

Listen

It would be an understatement to say Canadians like the Internet. The average Canadian visits 3,731 websites a month, and spends about 41 hours per month on line. That’s lots more than the world average of 2, 278 websites and 24.6 hours on line. These and other statistics are from the just released 3rd annual CIRA Factbook.

CIRA, the Canadian internet Registration Authority, is a non-profit organization that manages the .ca domain registry. It also promotes Internet use, which is why they compile the Factbook.

The latest one shows Canadians continue to use social networks, and Facebook followed by Twitter and LinkedIn are the three most popular.

RCI’s Wojtek Gwiazda spoke to CIRA’s Communications Manager Tanya O’Callaghan about the Factbook and the trends CIRA has found.
