Stephanie Headley collapsed after the stranger at her front door handed her a bank draft for $128,000 C.
The money will pay for a medical procedure in the United States. The treatment is said to be the only chance the Ottawa area, single-mother of four, has of survival.
Twelve years ago Headley was diagnosed with systemic sclerodoma, an autoimmune disease that is causing her skin, arteries, veins and internal organs to harden.
The deteriorating condition has left her dependent on heavy-duty painkillers every two hours now. Her children launched an online campaign to raise money.
On July 3rd, the stranger at the door was wearing big glasses, a cap and his jacket zipped up to his neck.
“Just as he turned to leave, I said: ‘God bless you’, and he smiled, big smile, and then he turned around and left.” Headley told CTV news in Ottawa.
It wasn’t until she opened the envelope inside her home, that she realized what she had received. “I just started crying, she said. “I dropped to the floor, and I dropped my (oxygen) tank and I just collapsed.”
Now Stephanie Headley has an appointment on September 22nd, to begin the stem cell therapy. And donations are still coming in.
