Marc Emery is the Canadian man known as the “Prince of Pot”. He is being released from a prison in Louisiana today, flown to Detroit, and will cross the border from Detroit into Windsor, Ontario to reunite with his wife and many supporters.
Emery served a five-year sentence in a jail in the United States for selling marijuana seeds to people in the US, from Cannabis Culture, his company in Vancouver.
He has vowed political revenge on the governing Conservative party in Canada who allowed his extradition to the United States.
Jodie Emery, his wife, told CBC News that her husband would be returning to work at Cannabis Culture immediately. But he is in big demand for speaking engagements
“We’re also being sponsored to go speak in cities around the world about policy reforms” Jodie Emery said.
There have been many changes since Marc Emery was fist arrested ten years ago. Liberal leader, Justin Trudeau, has said he supports legalization of marijuana in Canada, and will be running on that issue in next year’s federal election campaign.
In the United States, marijuana has already been legalized in some states, and is becoming a big business.
It has also been confirmed that Jodie Emery is seeking the liberal nomination in a Vancouver riding, and hopes to become a Member of Parliament to further the couple’s agenda.
In an interview with the Huffington Post Canada, Jodie Emery said, “I really got in favour of the Liberals when Justin Trudeau finally started changing his language from being, ‘Oh, I think that decrim[inalization] we could look at,’ he changed it to saying straight out that legalization is something that Canadians support, the science and the evidence-based information about it says that we should legalize it,”
