British Columbia ghost-town for sale

Bradian, British Columbia, and the 22 boarded up houses within it, could be yours for under a million dollars.  That’s about the same price as many houses in Vancouver and Toronto these days.

Bradian is in one of the most beautiful areas of the province and, unlike some other ghost-towns, it is not so far off the beaten path at just 109 kilometres north of Whistler.

But you may have to act fast.  John Lovelace, the realtor who listed the town, has been overwhelmed with calls expressing interest.

He cautions people, however, that the purchase price will probably be the least of their expenses.  He says the main infrastructure, including sewers, were built to 1931 standards.

The town was originally built by the owners of a gold-mine in nearby Bralorne.  It shut down 30 years ago and most of the homes in Bradian had been abandoned around 1970.

But the gold-mine has opened up again, and there’s as many as 60 people back working in it.  So it’s possible Bradian might prove a little gold mine for the right buyer.
