Canada’s Atlantic coast province of New Brunswick elected a new Liberal government on Monday (September 22), defeating the ruling Progressive Conservative party.
It took more hours than usual for the results because the election count was stopped for almost two hours because of problems with vote-counting machines.
In the end Brian Gallant’s Liberal Official Opposition Liberal party defeated the ruling Progressive Conservatives and Premier David Alward. Key issues in the election were the economy and the government’s intention to push ahead with shale gas fracking.
RCI’s Wojtek Gwiazda has a report.
