It is a very dark photo. We see an Indonesian soldier with headphones and a microphone peering through a bright round window.

No Canadians believed on board AirAsia jet

Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs says there are no indications that any Canadians were on the missing AirAsia flight that went missing Sunday in Indonesia with 162 people on board.

But a department spokesman says Canadian officials continue to work with Indonesian officials to confirm that no Canadians were on the flight.

The head of Indonesia’s search and rescue operation chief said Sunday that based on the Airbus A320’s last co-ordinates, officials believe “the plane is at the bottom of the sea.”

Meanwhile, two Porter Airlines flights flying out of Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport ran into problems Sunday.

A flight heading to Washington made an emergency landing in Williamsport, Pennsylvania when smoke entered the flight deck and cabin.

No one was hurt.

Later, an evening flight bound for Sudbury, Ontario returned to Toronto because of smoke inside the plane.

A Porter spokesman said two passengers were seen by medical staff for suspected anxiety, and two flight attendants were also examined as a precaution.
