Man to be charged over chainsaw threat

Road rage happens in Canada, but it was shocking to see video of a man yelling and wielding a chainsaw allegedly threatening a family in their car. A 37 year-old man was arrested after the incident was reported to police in the province of Quebec.

Karine Cyr and Alexandre Hermeier were vacationing with their children when they say a driver cut them off and was driving erratically. They decided to follow to get the licence plate number to report to police.

‘A terrifying situation’

When the vehicle stopped and the driver approached, Cyr began to record with her cell phone. The man brandished and revved a chainsaw and children are heard crying in the background.

“It was a terrifying situation,” said Hermenier. Both he and Cyr say they regret having followed the man and that instead, they should have called police.

After Cyr posted the video online, it went viral and after less than a day had received more than 600,000 hits.

Police say the alleged attacker has no record but will face several charges over this incident including assault with a weapon.
