After only seven months as the Premier of the western Canadian province of Alberta Jim Prentice announced a spring election, and that Albertans will be going to vote on May 5, suggesting the energy rich province was at a turning point. He made the announcement Tuesday morning (April 7) in the city of Edmonton.
Opposition parties in the province saw his move as opportunism and vowed to defeat the Progressive Conservative government.
