Lack of resources hampers foreign students: Globe

The Canadian government wants to attract more international students but is having trouble processing them due to a lack of resources, reports the Globe and Mail newspaper.

Using Canada’s Access to Information law, the Globe obtained documents indicating there are long waiting times for visas for foreign students. There is fierce competition for foreign students among several industrialized nations and the delays are longer in Canada than in other countries like Britain or the United States.

The Canadian government want to attract two times the number of foreign students it now has, but the Globe reports it has not provided sufficient resources to process that number.
