Neil Young is very unhappy with the effects of audio streaming. We see Young from the waste up seated with a microphone in his right hand. He is wearing a dark cowboy hat, a fringed buckskin jacket and has abrown scarf around his neck. He appears to be looking at someone who is asking him a question. In the background is a giant Indian feather surrounded by a pink background.

Young says thanks but no thanks to audio streaming

Canada’s most famous rocker, Neil Young, says he’s taking his music off all streaming services.

The 69-year-old Young made the announcement in two Facebook posts, saying his songs are being “devalued by the worst quality in the history of broadcasting.”

Young has long voiced a preference for formats from the past, including analog cassettes, eight tracks and AM radio and has been vocal about the need to prioritize sound quality.

He also took aim at the amount of money artists are making–or not making–from streaming services but said he did not make the decision for financial reasons.

It’s unclear when Young’s music will be removed from streaming services, and he said he was open to the possibility of changing his mind in the future.
