Nature group protects land important to rare birds

The land around two bays in eastern Canada’s province of New Brunswick is critical for birds and will be protected by the Nature Conservancy of Canada. There are 30 hectares of land that include salt marsh, forest and coastal bog.

Tabusintac and Neguac Bays are a critical breeding grounds for the endangered piping plover and they are important in the migration of many birds, including waterfowl.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada buys, acquires, or otherwise makes arrangements to gain control and manage important natural habitats across the country. Its mission is to protect areas of natural diversity.
