The leader of Canada’s most populous province, Premier Kathleen Wynne suggested that U.S. presidential hopeful Donald Trump is a danger to Canada and to the world. It is rare for a Canadian politician to wade into U.S. politics, particularly while on American soil. Wynne made the comments Thursday at the Canadian embassy in Washington after a day of meetings with senior government officials.

Candidate ‘intent on being divisive’
Without referring to Trump by name, Wynne said, “I think that a candidate for the presidency of the United States who is intent on being divisive, who is intent on ignoring the realities of the global economy, and doesn’t see the benefit of an inclusive, pluralistic society — I think it’s very dangerous for Canada, and I think it’s dangerous for the world,” reported the Toronto Star.
Canada’s prime minister has refrained from such comments. When Justin Trudeau was asked about Trump while in Washington earlier this year, he told the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that he had “great faith in the American people” and that he looked forward to working with whoever is elected president of the United States.
