The University of New Brunswick has launched a major fundraising campaign that it hopes will provide $55 million for students in need of financial help, reports Canadian Press. The eastern province of New Brunswick is one of Canada’s poorer provinces and the university’s president said he wants to make sure the university is as accessible as possible to students.

The cost of tuition varies widely across Canadian universities. According to government statistics, the average undergraduate fee for 2015-2016 was $6,191. Tuition is generally lower in the province of Quebec. Across Canada the fees were up 3.2 per cent from the previous session, while the rate of inflation was 1.3 per cent.
Tuition was highest in the faculties of dentistry, followed by medicine, pharmacy and law.
The average university tuition for international students was $21,932, but again varied widely among universities.
