Winnipeg forum on challenges facing Canadian aviation, cheap U.S. tickets, regulations

According to the Winnipeg Press newspaper the city of Winnipeg’s Richardson International Airport lost about 100,000 potential passengers to the Grand Forks airport in the United States, representing about 2.7 percent of the passengers who went through the airport.

The Winnipeg Airport Authority is hosting a two day (May 2-3) Western Canadian Aviation Forum looking at a number of aviation issues including,  the sizeable numbers of Canadian travellers choosing to use U.S. airports and airlines for cheaper flights.

Other issues include: Canada’s global share of international tourism arrivals, viability for small or remote airports, international air service agreements,  and regulatory requirements.
