Toronto group wants last call extended to 4 am

Chris Spoke is busy taking the next step in conferring Toronto’s status as a ‘World Class City’!

He, and some friends, created the on-line petition, Last CallTO, in an effort to extend the drinking hours in Canada’s largest city, from a 2 am last call, to 4 am.

Currently, the provinces of Quebec and Newfoundland have the latest hours in Canada closing at 3 am.  Now it is time, according to Chris Spoke, that Toronto join other major centres around the world, such as New York, Chicago, Berlin and Shanghai to name a few, in allowing people to have a drink in a bar until 4 am.

As it stands, Toronto does allow bar owners to apply for special permits to extend their hours until 4 am during events such as the Toronto International Film Festival.  And the city does have a clandestine underground network of establishments that serve alcohol after 2 am.  But Chris Spoke wants to make the issue one that people vote on in the next municipal election.
