Montrealers were invited to celebrate the art and culture of the East Asian Studies community at McGill University with a special multimedia event in Chinatown on Saturday, March 22nd. Students teamed up with the Montreal Chinese Community and Cultural Center to showcase photography, media art, music and philosophy including performances, speeches and good food.

Organizer Elia Sommerlad welcomed visitors with a video backdrop of her own travels in China and Korea and several mounted photographs. A newly published East Asian Studies Journal was launched and one of McGill University’s honours students spoke about Mohist Logic.
Traditional music was played by members of the McGill Students Chinese Music Society and another East Asian Studies student presented pop songs in Mandarin and Japanese.
The event was one of many bridging McGill University with the wider community.
