Canada’s Employment Minister Jason Kenney and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander were both determined Friday (June 20) to sell the federal government’s new policies and reforms of the temporary foreign worker program.
But first with journalists, and then by others, the new reforms were put into question. The controversial program has brought increasingly larger numbers of guest workers into Canada, and sometimes at unfairly low wages.
On Friday, the ministers said the government will cut down on the numbers allowed into Canada, raise fees to employers, and have more inspectors. But the news comes on the day of media reports that no inspections have been made so far.
RCI’s Wojtek Gwiazda has a report.
