Tax cheats in Canada get ready! Revenue Canada, the government agency that oversees the collection of taxes, is busy noting the information received on their snitch line.
Now, as a result of the hundreds of calls they have received, 80 new leads on taxpayers who may be hiding money offshore, are being pursued.
The hotline was set up on January 15th of this year. It is estimated there are billions of Canadian dollars sheltered in off-shore accounts.
