Air Canada is denying a published report that it intends to resume flights to Venezuela.
Flights were suspended in March over a number of issues, including passenger revenues being held by the Venezualan government.
The International Air Transport Association says $1.4-billion of revenues are currently being held by the Venezuelan government in breach of international treaties.
On Monday, Venezuela’s tourism minister, Andres Izarra, was quoted as saying Air Canada had sent three letters expressing its interest in resuming flights.
He added that airlines will never shut down their operations to what he called the “buoyant market.”
An Air Canada spokesperson said the airline will not resume flights until outstanding issues are resolved.
