Discarded clothing lies on a Calgary sidewalk near where police are investigating a multiple shooting. We see a sidewalk half covered with snow along with cars parked at the curb on the left. Behind a yellow police tape, we see an unidentifiable piece of blue clothing in the foreground. Further down the sidewalk we see a pile of black clothes and more yellow police tape.

Alberta sees another multiple shooting

People in Alberta are grappling with the second mass shooting in the province this week.

Police in Calgary are looking for at least one assailant after a shooting left one man dead and six people wounded early New Year’s Day.

They say the victims were both male and female and were in their early 20s and 30s and had been attending a New Year’s Eve house party.

Police say they don’t have any information on suspects nor a motive and have not revealed the name of the man who was killed pending an autopsy on Friday.

The six other victims suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious.

On Monday, six adults, between ages 25 and 50, and two children under age 10 were found dead in two separate residences in Edmonton after a shooting spree by a man, identified by acquaintances as 53-year-old Phu Lam, who later took his own life at an Edmonton-area restaurant where he apparently committed suicide.
