Toronto Fashion Week is winding down, and the winter collections of many of Canada’s top designers are being shipped back to wait the next season.
Big names like Rudsak, and Mackage, featured their signature coats and jackets. Montreal-based Mackage went all out with its “Winter Warriors” collection in an off-site show at the CBC Broadcast Centre. The models were made up with frosted eyebrows to add to the authenticity. Colourful fur and furry or fuzzy footwear were everywhere.
But the high heels took some of the models down in the Mikhael Kale show. One spot at the end of the runway had model after model taking a tumble. The designer said it was the facility’s problem.
Meanwhile the arrival of Australia’s Hayley Elsaesser‘s men’s and women’s wear collection made an impression. Insired by the movie, ‘The Big Lebowski’. models of all shapes, ages and sizes were given a break wearing flat shoes, and bright patterns that featured candy coloured bowling balls, and scissors and milk cartons.
Her ponymous label, Hayley Elsaesser is doing something right as she has made a global impact since the label launched in 2013, then just a fashion graduate of Queensland University of Technology.
