Winnipeg, Manitoba's Monarch Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary yesterday at the Living Prairie Museum.

Monarch festival 10th anniversary

Monarch butterflies are in peril. The ravages of climate change have devastated the once strong populations that travelled from Mexico to Canada every year.

This year, there are campaigns across the country, including one spearheaded by Montreal’s Space for Life, to nurture the beautiful creatures back into a growing and healthy population.

In Winnipeg, Manitoba, the 10th annual Monarch Butterfly Festival took place on Sunday at the Living Prairie Museum.

The event featured something for everyone. From finger-painting and face-painting for children, to free milkweed plants for the adults, the education and awareness of the challenges facing the monarch butterfly is growing.
