It’s not officially winter yet, but as usual, snow has already hammered parts of Canada. A snowstorm forced the closure of some schools and businesses in the eastern province of New Brunswick and buses were pulled off the road in the city Fredericton. Some ferries were cancelled and about 10,000 homes were without electricity as heavy snow pulled tree branches down severing hydro lines.
As if that were not bad enough, New Brunswick is under a snowfall warning with up to another 25 cm expected to fall.

In the province of Quebec, more than 63,000 customers lost electricity and up to 15 centimetres of now are expected to fall. Flurries may give way to rain. That’s not much consolation because it makes the snow heavier and more difficult to shovel.
This is just a taste of what’s to come. Snowstorms may occur in the most populated parts of Canada anytime between November and April. Maybe even May. Sometimes in October too.
Sigh.
