Pride parade supporters may have had mixed feelings at the annual celebration yesterday in Toronto.
The 38th annual event, took place along a 2-kilometre stretch of Toronto’s Yonge street, and despite the rain, the crowds turned out, as well as the dignitaries.

But this year the rainbow colours were eclipsed by a lot of black, as people mourned the missing and the dead in the city’s gay community.
Everything came to a halt for a moment of silence for LGBT victims of violence
This past year, the revelation that alleged serial killer, Bruce McArthur was targeting gay men, left many in the community shaken.
The remains of several of his alleged victims were discovered at several properties the landscaper had worked on,
“Until We’re Safe” was the slogan and the campaign that made a distinct appearance at this year’s parade.
“In Toronto, Pride Month focuses on remembering our fight for survival; it’s unending and every year its importance grows. In 2018 … we celebrate those organizations that have been created to support the community and continue to act as cornerstones for all of us,” the heads of Pride Toronto said in a statement.
