Last week the G8 leaders dealt with the issue of tax havens at their summit in Northern Ireland. In their 10 point declaration, six dealt with the issue of tax evasion.
Tuesday (June 25) the Canadian government publicized a relatively minor change in requirements for Cnadians with offshore property and income.
Is this enough? Are these steps at least going in the right direction.
It’s estimated that Canadians have $170 billion in 12 offshore tax havens.
RCI’s Wojtek Gwiazda spoke to Dennis Howlett, the Executive Director of the citizen’s group Canadiians for Tax Fairness.
