Immigration rules now ban polygamous and forced marriages no allowed into Canada now

Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander introduced legislation today banning people in polygamous and forced marriages from immigrating to Canada.

He made the announcement in Toronto this morning, with Status of Women Minister Kellie Leitch.  The government will also offer more help to girls and women in Canada wanting to escape a forced marriage.

Chris Alexander says there are “at least hundreds” of cases of immigrants in Canada now in polygamous marriages.
