Honda is investing C$857 million in three car plants that make the Civic and CR-V vehicles in Alliston, Ontario, a community about 100 kilometres north of Toronto.
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynn was at one of the plants today for the announcement. Her government is contributing 10 per cent of the company’s investment.
Honda Canada‘s president, Jerry Chenkin said, “This marks the first time a Honda plant outside Japan has been designated as a ‘global lead plant’ which reflects the knowledge and experience of our Canadian associates.”
Honda employs about 4,000 people, producing up to 390.000 cars a year for the Canadian and American markets
