Revitalizing the city of Montreal, and turning to all segments of Montreal society Jacques Menard, the chairman of BMO Nesbitt Burns and president of BMO Financial Group in the province of Quebec along with the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal launched a public outreach “je vois mtl” (I see mtl – Montreal).
On Monday (November 17) that outreach resulted in 150 proposals (of more than 200 submitted) to be approved to improve the city’s reality in numerous different spheres such as business, society and culture.
Among the politicians in attendance, the mayor of Montreal Denis Coderre and the premier of the province of Quebec Philippe Couillard.
“In September, we called on citizens, civil society organizations and businesses to mobilize for the city,” said Michel Leblanc, co-spokesperson for I see mtl and President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal in a press release. “We hoped to get around 100 leaders involved to deliver as many projects to stimulate Greater Montréal’s economy. Over 200 actions were submitted on the platform. So at this point, I think we can say ‘mission accomplished.'”
“The number and quality of the projects submitted handily exceeded the expectations I had when we launched the I see mtl movement,” said Jacques Ménard, co-spokesperson for I see mtl. “This unprecedented mobilization shows that Montréal’s revitalization is well under way and that there are many people who can picture and want to build the Montréal of tomorrow.”
