
I Musici de Montreal announced that Ghassan Alaboud is the orchestra’s new conductor in residence. For his part, Mr. Alaboud says he is “very excited, very thrilled and very honoured.”
“The openings in our careers are really rare… and working with such an orchestra, a professional orchestra and especially an orchestra like I Musici, with a very deep history in classical music in Montreal, is a really big advantage as well.” he says.

For the next four weeks I Musici will serenade Montrealers in the newly-landscaped Cabot Square each Wednesday at midday, and Ghassan Alaboud will be animating these events. The first one this week went well except for a sprinkling of rain.

Ghassan Alaboud has had a life-long and varied musical education, including a minor in opera singing.
He graduated from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal in orchestral conducting, from the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in orchestral conducting and choral conducting, and from both the Institut supérieur de musique de Damas, and Académie de musique de Damas in piano.
He is one of Montreal’s most promising young conductors. He succeeds Jean-Michel Malouf, I Musici’s conductor in residence from June 2012 to December 2014.
