Photographer Dave Sandford spent several days in November taking pictures of the natural power of Lake Erie. The result is a stunning collection posted online which has garnered a massive response.

Great Lakes can generate dangerous conditions
Lake Erie is the eleventh-largest lake in the world as measured by surface area. It is one of five large lakes at the heart of North America which lead into the St. Lawrence River and out into the Atlantic Ocean. They are critical for shipping and as a water resource, and are important for recreation too.
Because of their size, the lakes can generate huge waves and dangerous conditions. Songs have been written about shipwrecks on the lakes.

Photographer can’t keep up with demand
Sandford’s photo collection is called Liquid Mountains: I Captured Lake Erie On The Day It Came Alive And Showed Its True Power and has been viewed more than 245,000 times so far.
“I have been overwhelmed by the amount of press and orders ,” he said in an email to CBC News. “It’s amazing! I have been trying to keep up and just can’t.”
