Children are more vulnerable to concussion because their brains are still developing, their heads are big and their necks weaker, say researchers.

New tool provides advice about concussion

A new online tool has been designed to help parents, player and coaches deal with concussions in young athletes. The toolkit was developed by Dr. Shelina Balbul at BC Children’s Hospital in the western province of British Columbia.

The website has a short training course on how to identify and respond to head injuries and to manage the long-term effects. There are smartphone forms and tools to help parents and coaches respond to injuries and there are videos for young people with stories about people who have had concussions and advice on safe play. The information is available for free.
