Russian arrested in Toronto for scary stunts.

His name is apparently Oleg Cricket, born in Siberia. The acrobat and stuntman is widely known for death-defying stunts on Instagram where he has about 300,000 followers.

The energy drink company Red Bull which promotes adrenalin-filled events and heart-stopping exploits, has a page devoted to him and a new “sport” they call Urbex- urban exploration. It says he is a, “25-year-old Siberian with zero fear of heights and continually pushing the sport of urbex”.

But Oleg came up against a bit of a barrier in Toronto, Ontario. He was arrested and charged by police this month as a result of a video he posted called “At the top of Toronto, Canada”.

In it he performs some heart stopping jumps and acrobatics atop some of Toronto’s tall buildings, including leaping from beam to beam atop a 36-storey condo tower.

A security guard atop the condo tower spotted Cricket and a cameraman and called police.

They arrested the pair and charged them with break and enter and mischief under $5,000. The cameraman was also charged with possession of break-in instruments.

YouTube video and Bomberg tweet

The owner of the building said ‘urban explorers” like Cricket have been using bolt cutters and crowbars to get onto the roof and have side they have tightened security measures.

The video was promoted on twitter by the Swiss watch company Bomberg which did not respond to interview requests by CBC.

When CBC also asked Cricket for an interview he said he only works for money, and it would cost the broadcaster $500.

There have been a number of deaths of “urban explorers” either through misfortune or an extreme stunt gone wrong.
